Jobber to Google Ads: send the request, the quote or the job?
Zapier can pass any Jobber stage, from a new request to a new invoice, to Google Ads as an offline conversion. The one you bid on becomes what Google spends your budget looking for, and unless the lead is tied to its click, Google can't reliably tell which ads produced it.
TL;DR
- None of Jobber's help pages we read describe a direct Google Ads integration for search campaigns. The ready-made route is Zapier, which Google documents as a CRM connector. Once enough jobs report back, bid on the booked job, Jobber's "New Job Created" trigger, counted once per click, and send invoices as an observe-only action that carries the dollars.
- Google's lead-generation best practices recommend one stage, at least 15 conversions in 30 days, ideally within 7 days of the click. Requests teach Google to buy form fills, and quotes miss repair work booked straight onto the schedule.
- Through Zapier, Google needs each lead's click ID or email address to credit a job to an ad. Jobber's form reads five UTM tags and has no hidden field, so catch the click on a form on your own website. You also build the job Zap yourself: Zapier's ready-made offline-conversion templates cover only new requests and new clients.
- Calls don't travel this route. Jobber's CallRail integration passes source, medium and campaign, not a click ID. If jobs from form leads are a small share of your work, get jobs from calls reporting before you bid on jobs.
Is there a Jobber Google Ads integration?
Not for search campaigns, going by every Jobber help page we read. Jobber documents three nearby things instead:
- A booking button for Local Services Ads. Customers book "directly into your schedule from the 'Book Online' button", and new clients who book through your Business Profile get "Google" as their lead source automatically.
- GA4 events on its forms. Jobber's tracking page names them "generate_lead" for a request and "purchase" for an online booking. Its settings page calls the request event "form_submit", so check which one arrives in GA4 before you import it into Google Ads.
- Zapier. Jobber lists 11 Zapier triggers. In Zapier they include New Request Created, Quote Sent, Quote Approved, New Job Created, Job Closed (Jobber's help page calls it New Job Completion) and New Invoice Created. None is described as firing when an invoice is paid; Invoice Updated fires on edits, and Jobber doesn't say whether a payment counts as one. Jobber says Zapier "is available on select plans", so check Gear Icon > Account and Billing first.
Google's offline conversion FAQ names Zapier as one route back, and Google notes it needs a paid Zapier account. Zapier's Jobber and Google Ads page lists those Jobber triggers and a Google Ads "Send Offline Conversion" action. The ready-made offline-conversion templates it shows cover new requests and new clients only. Its closed-job and quote templates add the client to a Google Ads customer list instead. For a booked job, a closed job or an invoice, you build the Zap from the trigger and that action.
What does each Jobber event teach Google to buy?
Google's FAQ puts the mechanism in one line: "Smart Bidding optimizes for whichever conversion types you include in the 'Conversions' column." It recommends a separate conversion action for each stage, and adds: "Usually, you would only want to bid to one stage of the lead funnel". The other stages stay in your reports as secondary actions, which Google describes as observation only.
Google files imported leads as a qualified lead, "further qualified offline" in your CRM, or a converted lead, one that completed a step you define, such as a sale.
| Trigger in Zapier | Google goal | What Google learns to buy (our reading) | Where it breaks |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Request Created | Submit lead form | Anyone who fills in a form, including spam and bots, the wrong trade and addresses outside your service area | Your website form conversion probably counts these already |
| Quote Sent | Qualified lead | Homes your office thought worth pricing | Repair work booked straight onto the schedule skips the quote |
| Quote Approved | Converted lead | Replacement and install buyers who said yes | Fewer than quotes sent |
| New Job Created | Converted lead | Customers who booked work, repair or install | Also fires on the same client's second job |
| Job Closed | Converted lead | Finished work | Fires only when someone closes the job in Jobber |
| New Invoice Created | Converted lead, with the amount as value | Billed dollars, for value-based bidding | Also fires on the same client's second invoice |
The quote rows depend on your office. Jobber's page on requests says: "If quoting isn't part of your workflow, the request can be converted directly into a job rather than a quote." A shop that quotes installs and books repairs straight onto the schedule would, by bidding on quotes, tell Google its repair calls are worth nothing.
Two settings matter whichever row you pick:
- Value. Google's Target ROAS page describes Target CPA and Maximize conversions as "All conversions treated equally." A drain clearing and a system replacement are one conversion each unless the invoice amount goes with them.
- Count. Google's default for imported actions is "Every", so a customer who clicked once and booked a repair in May and a tune-up in June counts twice. Set Count to One: for invoices that comes close to Jobber's Lead Source Report, where "it's the first payment that counts, not any ongoing revenue."
Which stage has enough volume for Google to learn from?
Google's pages name four things to check for the stage you bid to. The first three are recommendations; the fourth is a hard limit:
- One stage. Its lead-generation best practices say to avoid selecting goals from multiple stages for optimization.
- Volume. "Make sure the action generated at least 15 conversions in the last 30 days at the account level." For Target ROAS on a Search campaign, Google states the same floor as a requirement.
- Delay. "Ideally, choose a conversion action that happens within 7 days of the ad interaction for timely optimization."
- Window. "We retain the GCLID for only 90 days." Matching on customer details such as email allows 63.
A worked example
These numbers are an illustration, not client data. To get yours, open Insights, then Reports in Jobber and run the Lead Source Report for last month with the columns Leads, Leads with quote, Leads with job and Leads with invoice. It counts leads created in the date range, so a recent week undercounts the jobs still to come.
A shop spends $12,000 a month on Google Ads. The report's "Google" row shows:
| All Google leads | Ad spend per item | Form leads only (30%) | 15 in 30 days? | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Leads | 120 | $100 | 36 | Yes |
| Leads with quote | 30 | $400 | 9 | No |
| Leads with job | 66 | $182 | 20 | Yes |
| Leads with invoice | 60 | $200 | 18 | Barely |
- Use the form column. Only a lead that came through a form you control carries its click ID, or an email the Google tag already saw, back through Jobber (next section). Google may match some callers through signed-in Google accounts but gives no rate, so our reading is to count form leads only. In this illustration 70% of the Google leads phoned in.
- Jobs clear the mark at 20; quotes don't at 9. Invoices at 18 leave little room for a slow month.
- Test your slowest month. Our reading: a stage that clears 15 in July and misses it in the shoulder season leaves the campaign guessing for part of the year.
- Treat the row as approximate, not exact. Jobber fills in "Google" for bookings through the Business Profile button and for anyone who picks "Google" under "How did you hear about us", which inflates it. New clients CallRail creates from calls are labeled "CallRail", and clients created through Zapier get no source, which shrinks it. Add the CallRail row, and any leads nobody labeled, before you judge a stage.
So the job is this shop's stage, but those 20 jobs come from 30% of its customers. Our reading: bid on them alone and the campaign learns to find form-fillers and to value callers at nothing. Follow Google's order below: report jobs now as a Primary action outside the goal the campaign bids on, get jobs from calls reporting too, and swap goals once most of your jobs report back.
Why doesn't a Jobber form send the click back?
Google needs to know which click a job came from, and both ways it documents for tying a lead to its click start on the form.
- The click ID (GCLID). Google asks for auto-tagging and code access to your web pages: "You will need to modify each form submission page to add a hidden form field for the GCLID." The ID is stored with the lead until the job happens.
- Email or phone (enhanced conversions for leads), the route Google now recommends for new setups. The Google tag on your form hashes the email or phone at submission, and later you send the same details. Google also matches them "to signed-in customers who engaged with your ad", without saying how often that catches someone who only called. Without the tag, Google says the click ID "is required".
Jobber's form makes both hard. Its form builder offers answer fields, dropdowns, checkboxes, date pickers and image uploads, but no hidden field. Its links read five UTM tags (source, medium, campaign, term and content), and none of its pages we read mention Google's click ID. Embedded on your site, the form sits in a frame. Jobber warns that GA4 tracking there "relies on third-party cookies inside the iframe, and most browsers block them by default", with Google Chrome "a notable exception". Google describes its enhanced-conversions setup for a tag placed "directly on your page (not within a third-party tool or iFrame)".
Our reading: keep Jobber's form for Client Hub and existing customers, and put a form you control on the pages your ads send people to, with the hidden click-ID field and the Google tag. A Zap then creates the client and the request in Jobber through its Create Client and Create Request actions. Jobber says clients synced from Zapier don't get a lead source automatically, so these leads won't reach the Lead Source Report's "Google" row on their own.
Decide first where the click ID lives. Zapier's Create Client shows name, company, email, phone and address, and none of the Jobber actions that Zapier or Jobber list writes a custom field. Keep the ID outside Jobber: Google's FAQ says "A Google spreadsheet will also work." Have the form Zap add one row per lead (email, phone, click ID, date), and the job Zap find the client's row there.
Matching on email skips that question. Google's Zapier page says: "Your CRM must store the Google Click ID (GCLID) or the email addresses of your leads." It doesn't say whether a lead with only a phone number can match that way, so make email a required field on the form you control. With the Google tag on that form, the job-stage Zap has to send the client's email with each job.
How do you switch Google from leads to jobs?
Google's page on moving a campaign to a lower-funnel goal gives the order:
- Report first. Create the job action as a converted lead, mark it Primary, and keep its goal out of the campaign's bidding. Track it "for at least 2-3 conversion cycles, before using them for bid optimization." Google says Smart Bidding "will train on this data in the background".
- Swap the goals, so form fills stop being used for bidding and jobs start. Our reading: then set form fills to Secondary as well, because Google's Target CPA page says Smart Bidding "will learn across all conversion actions reported in the 'Conversions' column, even if they're configured for different goals".
- Raise the target. "This means increasing the CPA," and Google says to start from the cost per conversion you have actually achieved.
Take that cost from the jobs Google sees, not the jobs in Jobber. In the illustration a job costs $182 by Jobber's count, but if only the 20 form jobs report back, Google sees $12,000 for 20 conversions: $600 each. A $182 target asks the campaign to cut its cost per job by 70%, and Google warns that a target set too low "may cause you to forgo clicks that could result in conversions". With calls and forms both reporting, say 60 of the 66 jobs, the starting target is about $200.
After the swap, Google describes a 7 to 14 day learning phase, and says changes to budgets, targets or goals during it reset the learning window.
What this doesn't cover
- Phone calls as jobs. Google's call conversion import needs a Google forwarding number on the ad or website, the caller's number and the call start time. That, and a call tracking product's own Google Ads connection, need their own piece. So do Local Services Ads, where Jobber's link is a booking button and which are moving into Google Ads.
- Canceled jobs. Google lets you retract or restate an uploaded conversion for up to 55 days. A job trigger won't do that by itself, so decide who does.
Do this in your account
- See what Google buys now. In Google Ads, open Summary under Conversions in the Goals menu and write down which actions are Primary.
- Count your stages. Run Jobber's Lead Source Report for your slowest recent month, and estimate what share of the Google leads came through a form rather than a call. If you use CallRail, add its row.
- Click your own ad. If the form on the landing page is Jobber's, linked or embedded, Jobber documents no way to keep the click ID. Replace it on ad landing pages with your own form, a hidden click-ID field (Google's setup page has the script) and the Google tag set up for enhanced conversions.
- Create one import action per stage: Quote sent as a qualified lead, Job booked as a converted lead, Invoice as a converted lead with value. Set Count to One. Make the job action Primary in a goal the campaign doesn't bid on yet, keep quotes and invoices Secondary, and wait 4 to 6 hours after creating an action before its first upload, as Google advises.
- Test one lead end to end. Submit the form from an ad click, book a job, and find it in Zapier's task history, then in Google Ads about 3 hours later. After that, compare the two weekly, using the "All conv. (by conv. time)" column segmented by conversion action.
- Connect Zapier from an owner-level Jobber login. Jobber says the connection drops if the team member who set it up is deactivated. When that office manager leaves, job conversions stop and the campaign keeps bidding without them.
FAQ
Does Jobber integrate with Google Ads? Not directly for search campaigns, going by Jobber's help pages. It connects to Local Services Ads through a booking button and to Google Analytics on its forms. For jobs and invoices, the ready-made route is Zapier, which Google documents as a CRM connector (you need a paid Zapier account and a Jobber plan that includes Zapier).
How do I track Google Ads conversions from Jobber? In layers: Jobber's GA4 events count form submissions, UTM tags on Jobber's form links fill in the lead source, and a Zap sends later stages, such as a booked job, to Google Ads as offline conversions. Only the last one tells Google which clicks became work. On ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro, see how ServiceTitan sends revenue back and what Housecall Pro's lead source field records.
Should I send quotes or jobs to Google Ads? Send both, and bid on whichever one has the volume Google recommends. In our reading the booked job gets there more easily, because it includes repair work that never gets a quote. Quotes suit install-heavy shops that quote every job.
Can Jobber send revenue to Google Ads? Yes, through the New Invoice Created trigger with the amount as the conversion value. It fires when the invoice is created, so unpaid invoices count too. Before bidding on value, Google says to report values for 4 weeks or 1 to 2 conversion cycles, whichever is longer.
How long after the ad click can a Jobber job be sent? Up to 90 days when matched on the click ID, and 63 days when matched on customer details such as email. Google won't import anything older.
