A monthly agency price can buy five different things
Before choosing the lower monthly number, find out which work, advertising spend and exit terms it actually buys.
TL;DR
- To compare HVAC marketing agency quotes, identify the purchase first: a self-service product, a website project, SEO, advertising management or consulting. A monthly payment does not make these equivalent services.
- Checked public examples include Mediagistic's $249 Service.ly product with self-service ads and its $3,500 LeadBuilder managed program. The price difference does not establish which would perform better for your company.
- Separate the agency fee, platform spend, setup and project payments. Keep initial commitment, renewal and notice in different fields too.
- Ask what you own, what you can export and what remains licensed after cancellation. An ownership headline does not answer every part of a handoff.
- Copy the comparison worksheet before your next proposal call. Unanswered fields remain unknown, rather than becoming a $0 cost.
What am I buying at this monthly price?
You have three proposals open. Each shows a monthly number. One includes a website. One offers SEO. One says it will handle your advertising. The lower price is easy to find; the comparable purchase is harder.
Start by writing one sentence beside each offer: who does which work, for which locations, and which costs sit outside that number. If you cannot finish that sentence, sorting by price will compare different purchases.
The examples below come from providers' own public pages checked on October 11, 2026. They are advertised terms, not accepted quotes or verified delivery. Lonta AI sells related services and prepared this review with OpenAI Codex assistance. It is company-authored material, with no independent human review claimed.
Five purchases that can appear on a marketing proposal
| Purchase | Checked public example | What to keep separate |
|---|---|---|
| A self-service product | Mediagistic lists Service.ly at $249/month with website, listings, support and self-service ads. | Access to tools and support does not establish that a team will execute the advertising for you. |
| A website or project component | CI Web Group lists an estimator at $3,060 one-time for Hydra OS clients, with inclusion on $30K+ website builds. | An added component is a different purchase from an ongoing marketing retainer. Confirm eligibility and the approved project scope. |
| An SEO retainer | Hook Agency lists SEO from $2,800/month; PPC management is separately listed from $2,000/month. | Search optimization and paid-ad management have separate scope. Starting prices are not your final quote. |
| Managed marketing | Mediagistic separately lists LeadBuilder from $3,500/month with a managed team and channels. | Ask for the platform-spend amount included, if any. The inspected rate card does not settle every bundle's media allowance. |
| Consulting and internal capability | Contractor Dynamics lists $25,000–$60,000 for the initial year of its roofing marketing consulting program. | A twelve-month consulting engagement is different from buying outsourced execution. The annual investment does not establish a monthly billing schedule. |
These are examples of scope, not a recommended shortlist or an agency ranking. A self-service offer can suit an owner with someone available to run it. A managed program can suit an owner who needs execution. Consulting can suit a business building that capability internally. The question is which work you need bought, and who remains responsible for doing it.
Ask about exclusions as carefully as inclusions. Service Marketing Co.'s pricing page lists a $2,500/month organic growth and retention program while excluding actual paid-ad execution and major website rebuilds. That boundary matters if your immediate task is to have someone run Google Ads. It says nothing about the quality of the organic work.
Is the monthly number a fee, a budget or a payment plan?
Create four cost lines: ongoing service fee, platform spend, setup charges and project payments. Add tracking, hosting and other pass-through charges when they apply. Print who pays each bill.
A website paid monthly can be a financed project rather than part of the ongoing service. HVAC Foundry lists SEO/GEO at $2,500/month and a separate website at $2,500 once or $250 across twelve payments. Multiplying the latter gives $3,000. That is the payment-plan total, not a marketing retainer or a market average.
Do not compare the $250 installment with a provider's entire monthly execution fee. And do not assume cancelling an ongoing service erases remaining project payments. Ask for the answer in the proposal that applies to you.
Some bundles need a written clarification before you can calculate a total. Bear North's pricing lists $1,750, $3,250 and $9,500 monthly bundles, a website and zero setup. The text inspected did not resolve an included advertising-spend amount. Record that as unknown. It would be inaccurate to invent a media allowance or to assume none is included.
An advertised zero setup charge is a known statement. A missing setup figure is a question. Those states should never occupy the same cell in your comparison.
What do these quotes cost over the same period?
Take two invented proposals, with the same agreed work and platform spend solely to demonstrate the arithmetic. These are not offers from the providers above or Lonta's rate card.
| Cost over three months | Example A | Example B |
|---|---|---|
| Management fee each month | $900 | $1,200 |
| Platform spend each month, paid separately | $2,000 | $2,000 |
| One-time setup charge | $1,200 | $0 |
| Included cost for the three months | $9,900 | $9,600 |
For A, calculate 3 × ($900 + $2,000) + $1,200. For B, calculate 3 × ($1,200 + $2,000). The lower monthly fee produces the higher included three-month cost in this constructed example.
At six months, these same inputs give $18,600 and $19,200. The order reverses because the setup charge is paid once. Neither period establishes value or results. The exercise shows why you must declare the time horizon along with the costs.
This table assumes no extra project payments, taxes, termination charges or overlapping transition fees. Add them if your proposal requires them. If a quote commits you beyond the period shown, display that obligation separately; a three-month operating comparison does not mean you can leave after three months.
Does monthly billing mean I can leave next month?
Billing interval, initial commitment, renewal period and cancellation notice are four separate fields. Monthly invoices alone answer only the first.
For a concrete example, Socius Marketing's public MSA defaults to a one-year initial term followed by six-month renewals unless the Order Form states otherwise. Its ordinary termination provision requires written notice thirty days before the end of the current term. Your actual Order Form matters; the public default is not proof of every customer's agreement.
A monthly plan can still have a notice deadline. Bear North's subscription terms require thirty days' notice before renewal and say the initial term depends on the plan. Its monthly pricing should not be rewritten as same-day cancellation.
Put the next renewal date, required notice date, method and recipient in the worksheet. Ask what happens to remaining payments and which services continue through the transition. Save the written answer with the agreement, rather than relying on an impression from the sales call.
What does owning my website actually include?
Break the asset list apart: domain registration, your content, finished pages, source files, hosting platform, third-party licenses, ad accounts, tracking and phone numbers. Access to one does not establish rights to every other item.
CI Web Group's terms distinguish client content from retained platform intellectual property and license custom deliverables unless the statement of work expressly assigns them. An asset-ownership headline therefore cannot establish that all website source or platform software transfers. Ask for the rights and exports attached to each item in your own project.
Relentless Digital's asset policy conditions website handoff on full setup or finance payment and good standing. It separately describes client-owned Google Ads setup and direct Google billing. The same policy says cancelling its service does not automatically pause the ads.
That last distinction belongs on the transition plan: who is supposed to keep campaigns running, and who is supposed to stop them? A service cancellation and an advertising pause are different operational instructions.
This article helps you compare proposals. The agency-switching guide covers the separate task of checking accounts, tracking and phone-number transfers before an actual change.
What if the public pages disagree?
Ask for a dated scope with the package name and deliverables. Do not choose whichever sentence makes your comparison easiest.
Sprout Sage's HVAC page lists a $1,500/month SEO service. Its general pricing page separately lists an $800 Starter tier. On the general page inspected, the table assigns four monthly posts to the $1,500 Core tier, while a later FAQ describes four posts in the $800 package. The written proposal needs to resolve the deliverables before you compare them. A generic entry price should not silently replace the scope of the HVAC-specific service.
The useful result of a source check can be a question to ask. It does not have to be a confident price comparison.
What this doesn't cover
The collection began with a fixed list of thirty candidates serving or potentially serving the US home-service market. Selected statements from ten providers were checked against fresh public captures; the two additional term and asset-policy examples above were also inspected. The thirty-provider review is incomplete. Some pages could not be read, and some eligibility or commercial fields remain unresolved.
That prevents a national average, a disclosure percentage or a claim about the cheapest agency. Unreadable pages do not prove that a provider withholds prices. The examples also cannot establish service quality, client outcomes or the terms of an unpublished agreement. This is a proposal-comparison exercise by a competing company.
Prices and pages can change. Use the sources to ask better questions, then compare the written proposals actually offered to your business. No conclusion here requires you to hire Lonta.
How to compare HVAC marketing agency quotes in six steps
- Write the purchase and the responsible person beside each price: tool, project, SEO, ads management or consulting.
- List concrete deliverables, locations and exclusions. Resolve conflicting package descriptions in writing.
- Separate service fees, media, setup, project payments and other charges. Keep unknown amounts unknown.
- Calculate costs over the same stated period. Display any longer commitment separately.
- Record renewal and notice dates, asset rights, payment conditions, exports and who controls advertising during exit.
- Use the free quote worksheet during the call and retain each answer's proposal page or clause.
After scope and costs match, agree on how the work will be reported. The agency-report definitions guide helps separate inquiries, bookings and sold work so the cheaper quote does not also come with a different outcome definition.
FAQ
Does an agency's monthly price include advertising spend?
Sometimes, and sometimes it does not. Ask for the included platform-spend amount and payer, rather than inferring it from the package price. The inspected Mediagistic and Bear North examples leave particular media amounts unresolved.
Is a month-to-month plan the same as no cancellation notice?
No. A renewal period and a notice deadline are separate terms. Record both from your applicable agreement; Bear North's checked subscription terms are one example with thirty-day notice before renewal.
Can I compare an SEO quote with a Google Ads management quote?
Only as different ways to allocate your marketing work, not as identical services at different prices. Identify which task you need executed and which costs or responsibilities remain outside each scope.
Does owning the website mean I get the platform's source code?
It does not establish that by itself. Ask separately about your content, custom deliverables, export format, platform licenses and transfer conditions. CI's checked terms distinguish those rights.
